Exhibition - Tim Jones
After trudging around galleries yesterday it was truly refreshing to come across Tim Jones exhibition at Australian Galleries in Derby St Collingwood. Tim is a master relief printer and sculptor combining the two very eloquently. His handling of landscape themes, lone figure and the strength of clarity a crisp wood engraving can bring is simply fantastic. Here’s a link to some of the works and Tim’s own website.
If you want to feel immersed in some form of dark “Narnia” like landscape and be absorbed by the inky blackness of beautiful prints then this show is for you. If on the other hand you want to be found contemplating sculptural works of delicacy and scale which echo details of the prints then here you have it. Oh get over it go and have a look!
The show is on until July 19… oops that’s today.. thankfully Australian Galleries is open on Sundays (one of the few…) and has a great stockroom, so I am sure you can see some of what’s left (although it did seem to sell well.) even when the exhibition is finished.
